The answer was he was buying click throughs to his affiliate link from an advertising broker. He had purchased several thousand "Unique Click Throughs" in hopes of increasing his chances of making the sale. He explained that since the web's advertising market is currently so depressed, there are many great deals available if you are willing to negotiate. He found an advertising broker that was willing to sell him unique click throughs for less than 1 penny per visitor. He purchased a large number of click throughs worth several hundred dollars, and began sending them to a page he designed that only promotes our hosting products, and his referral income has been growing steadily since.
I don't know where he found such a great deal on click throughs, he wouldn't tell me too many specifics, because he doesn't want everyone to get his secrets. He also refused to permit me publish his web site address or name in order to protect his methods of promotion.
I did some research and found out a few good ways to send both targeted and untargeted traffic to your affiliate links. You may need to design an advertising page that pre-sells the hosting services and contains your affiliate link in order to participate. Another group of high traffic sites that sell guaranteed click throughs is Free Lotto Sites, these sites have a very high traffic volume and will sell you guaranteed click throughs.

The Disadvantage of the above methods is that both of these seem to bring a little more "Junk Traffic", traffic that is completely untargeted, and will result in a lower sales ratio per visitor. The advantage is that you can usually purchase an extremely large volume of traffic for a very small investment.

This site appears to be reputable enough, they use a third party tracking service that guarantees their stats. They offer several different options although the most cost effective appears to be their pop behind window campaigns. They offer packages of 20,000 unique visitors for $150.00. They also allow targeted ads, so you should be able to achieve a higher conversion rate for your money.

This site is very similar to Adscholar in that they appear reputable, and offer a range of solutions for guaranteed traffic. Their minimum advertising buy is $500.00 they offer banner ads, pop-under windows, and targeting.
By now you are probably wondering the same thing I was when I first learned of this affiliate's plan to market affiliate programs, "How can anyone possibly make money buying traffic and sending it to an affiliate site?" Basically the answer lies in the compounding of lifetime commissions:
Assuming he purchased advertising at a similar rate to the 20,000 visitors for $150.00 He would only need to convert 7 of the 20,000 visitors to customers even if all 7 purchased our least expensive $9.95 / Month Unix hosting plan, a 0.035% success rate (3/100ths of 1 percent ) or one sale in every 2,857.143 visitors he will receive $167.16 in income every year for a one time investment of $150. If his traffic results in more than 7 sales, or any customers purchase more expensive plans then his recurring lifetime commissions will be much higher.
A couple of tips if you decide to market any affiliate plans this way:
- Pre-selling our products, and purchasing targeted traffic will result in a much
higher sales rate than simply directing target directly at your affiliate link.
Directing visitors to a page with a pre-selling message on your site will lead
to a higher sales rate.
- Pay per click search engines are excellent sources of targeted traffic, several
of our affiliates have purchased keywords on pay per click search ``engines
to promote their affiliate link.
- The more traffic you generate for your affiliate link the more sales
opportunities you will have.
- This method of promoting affiliate programs is still pretty new so
there is no clear cut guidelines to follow to ensure your success. You
will have to innovate in order to be successful.
- Negotiate your best deal when purchasing bulk traffic or banner ads.
The current advertising market is very weak, and many online advertising
agencies are willing to sell you traffic for a very discounted rate
compared to the rates quoted on their websites.
