It's been quite a while since I put out a newsletter and I've made a number of changes to the LifetimeCommissions.com directory in the meantime. Quite a few programs seem to have vanished and have been deleted from the directory and I've added a large number of new programs.

1. Changes to the directory
================================

In the past, I didn't include programs which relied on cookies for tracking. As I'm sure you're all aware, cookies are not very reliable for long term tracking of affiliate sales. They can be turned off or cleared, and if the customer changes computers then any cookies stored are lost.

However, there are a number of programs which do use cookies for tracking and as some of these offer products which are in demand I decided to add a section to the directory listing programs which use cookies for tracking. There's no guarantee that the customer will remain "yours" for life, but despite this I think that some of the products offered are interesting enough that they deserve inclusion in the directory.

I've now added a special page for listing programs tracked by cookies and I think you'll find a good selection of products and programs there.

There's also now a section for newly added programs. This does not include the programs which use cookies for tracking but it lists the most recently added of the other programs, so you can see at a glance if any of these fit the topic of your website.

2. Helping affiliates increase sales
================================

There's sometimes debate about how often affiliate managers or merchants should contact affiliates. Some affiliates are happy to get along with no contact at all from the merchant, while others like the encouragement and support offered with regular contact.

I was very impressed to hear from Native Remedies that they've begun up a series of workshops for their affiliates. The next set in the series is devoted to blogging and is designed to help affiliates build, maximize and maintain their own blogs, beginning with setting up a workshop on Blogger.com and moving on to building a blog using your own software such as that available at WordPress.org.

According to Native Remedies, "Workshops are an incredible way to generate new marketing and traffic generation ideas, as well as build a network of business associates with whom you can brainstorm, trade links and share ideas."

If you have a website focused on health issues (including the health of pets) Native Remedies is definitely worth looking at.
